Welcome to the Boat Speed Calculator!

Follow these easy steps to estimate your boat’s top speed and see how changes in horsepower affect its performance.

Step 1: Input Boat Details

  • Weight: Enter the total weight of your boat, including the gear, fuel and people.
  • Horsepower (HP): Enter the horsepower (hp) of your boat’s engine.
  • Top Speed (S): Enter the current top speed of your boat. This will help calculate the constant value specific to your boat.

Step 2: Calculate the Constant

  • Once youโ€™ve filled in the weight, horsepower, and top speed, click the “Calculate Constant” button.
  • This constant is unique to your boat and represents how your boatโ€™s speed is related to its weight and horsepower.

Step 3: Adjust Horsepower to See Speed Changes

After calculating the constant, you can change the Horsepower (HP) value to see how the boat’s top speed changes.

  • Enter a new horsepower value and click “Recalculate Speed“.
  • The boat’s new top speed will be displayed based on the calculated constant and your updated horsepower.

Step 4: Review the Results

  • The updated top speed will be shown on the screen based on the new horsepower.
  • You can repeat the process and experiment with different horsepower values to see how they impact your boat’s performance.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Ensure the weight includes all gear and equipment on the boat.
  • The constant value is based on your specific boat setup and cannot be changed unless you adjust the weight, horsepower, or top speed.
  • Experiment with different horsepower values to understand how it influences your boat’s top speed.

This version allows users to calculate the constant based on the boat’s weight, horsepower, and top speed, and then adjust the horsepower to see how the top speed changes.
